Simple interest always gives my students problems when they have to solve for a parameter other than the interest earned. This self-checking, 10 problem scavenger hunt is a fun way to give them some additional practice.
The slides can be solved in any order. Students solve the problem on the top of the page, then find the answer on the bottom of another page. I usually post them around the room to get the kiddos up and moving. When beginning with the "D" page, the pages spell DUMBWAITER when solved in the correct order. I find this method makes it easier to check at a glance if a student is on the right track instead of memorizing some sequence of pictures or something else. The questions include solving for all the parameters (I, P, R, and T) as well as solving for time periods of months(instead of years) and total value (instead of just interest earned). Enjoy!
