Simple Machines are one of those tough areas for my kiddos to grasp onto, but required for alternative assessments. I was on the hunt for an easy way to introduce the concept and came up with this starter set!
In this simple machines set you get:
-A guided notes packet. Each machine is isolated in its own notes page, offers a brief definition with words missing for the students to fill in, a picture, room to list examples and room for students to draw their own picture.
-A teacher guide for the notes. This will give you the words to fill in the blanks for all the definitions and provide some examples for each in case your students get stuck and you can't think of an example off the top of your head!
-A foldable and cut outs. A simple foldable is included, as well as a page with the pictures and definitions shrunk to fit into the foldable. You can also have your students hand draw or write, but the pieces are there in case that is easier.
-A scavenger hunt. A super fun activity to go around the school and find examples of simple machines!
-A cut and sort activity. Great to send home for homework or as a mini assessment!
-A "Who Am I" riddle worksheet (added 1/26/2016). I use this as a bell ringer, its great to check for understanding.
-A "Simple Machines in Real Life" worksheet (added 1/26/2016). This is a great connection piece to their everyday life!
