These coloring sheets can be used as a way to introduce your students to simple machines prior to the experiments you may already use. I have my students choose to either color the sheet (at least 70% for full credit) or write a summary of what they learned from the sheet for homework or classwork before we begin delving into the material. This helps students look at the information in depth so when they come to class, we can have meaningful conversations about simple and complex machines in our lab work! Even if students do not remember everything on a sheet, I have had great success with students making deeper and richer connections because they have "seen it before"! I compiled ten different coloring sheets that can be used in any unit about simple machines!
Be sure to download the FREE resources (“Simple Machines Free Resources”) I have created to go along with these pages! They are a great way to engage students and get them excited about learning simple machines!
