Simple Machines is a tough science unit for many students!
Going deeper into nonfiction texts is essential to student mastery of common core standards. Want ways to integrate social studies and science content into your nonfiction instruction, while differentiating for the needs of all learners? Look no further than these Simple Machines differentiated reading passages and comprehension questions. In this product, there are four nonfiction reading passages based on Simple Machines and what the Georgia Standards say students should know and understand about them. If your classroom is like mine, there are readers all over the spectrum, yet it is vital that all students understand these important concepts. I've created the passage on four different reading levels to make differentiation much easier. I've leveled each passage with its Lexile/Guided Reading level. The questions that go along with the passage includes 6 fill in the blank, 5 multiple choice, a chart to complete about examples of simple machines, and a writing prompt requiring students to cite evidence from the text.
