This resource is a 2-4 week long homework project to accompany a unit on simple machines at school. This fun and engaging project will have students talking about science away from school!
The primary assignment is for students to create a Rube Goldberg machine using simple machines. This projects helps elevate your science class, especially if you have limited time, to engage your students outside the classroom and involve parents. It combines science content with arts and lit integration.
I recommend that you have students display their projects as a gallery walk upon completion, to encourage them to truly become experts on how their machines work. Students can ask and answer questions. You could even invite parents as well!
If you'd love to give your students a reason to dig into science, here's an engaging opportunity for you!
