Engineering a Roller Coaster with Primary Students!
We have simplified our roller coaster engineering challenge to make it easier for primary students. Using recycled cardboard tubes and tape students will create a track for a marble and be introduced to the engineering design process. Magnets and a metal surface can also be used for this fun activity. Included are teacher notes with an example, a rubric, inquiry questions, a poster of the engineering design process and a material request letter for parents. Student pages provide guidance for the challenge. Simple enough for small group problem solving, it is also a great activity to do with older buddies.
