Description

Teach your students the Scientific process using these five hands-on and interactive science experiments. These experiments integrate other science concepts such as: what plants need to survive, how sounds are made, how to quickly turn solids into liquids, and much more! The five experiments in this document are:
1) What do plants need to survive? (students will test and observe 5 plants over the course of 2 weeks to determine what plants need to survive. Some plants will receive no water, some will receive no soil, etc.)
2)What is the quickest way to make an ice cube melt? (Students will investigate this prediction using a hair dryer, space heater, their hands, salt, and hot water.)
3)How can we prevent an apple slice from turning brown? (Students will test milk, water, soda, and lemon juice to determine which liquid best prevents the apple slice from turning brown.)
4)Oobleck Experiment (Students will do several tests to determine if "Oobleck" is a solid or liquid.)
5)How are sounds made? (Students will do 3 different science investigations using rubber bands on a box lid, a metal spoon with a glass of water, and a ruler on the edge of their desk to determine how sounds are made. Students will learn that all sounds are made through vibrations.)

At the end of each experiment, students will make conclusions and write about what they learned from the experiment.
