The traditional science fair takes a lot of preparation, planning, and time. This is why I designed this product, hoping that it would save planning time for other teachers during the busy science fair season! This simple document was created as a outline and template for my class’s contribution to our school’s annual science fair. It took my class about 2 weeks to complete their projects. I allowed my students, in groups of 2 or 3 chose their own science fair projects. I have provided the list of example science fair projects that students could use. They did both a ‘practice’ of their science experiment and completed their posters during class time. The projects included a completed poster that contained pictures, graphs, illustrations, and writing which was completed using the templates provided in this product.
These templates and graphic organizers are meant to be easy to use and
includes everything you need to make organizing your class’s science fair projects easy. I have purposely left out information such as is the project to be done at school or at home, is the project done is groups or independently, and other ways that you may want to structure this project so that this resource can be used in a variety of different ways. Also feel free to add any other criteria or requirements that would benefit your science fair or meet the needs of your students.
To complete their science fair projects students need to follow the directions on the check list provided. The check list walks students in order, through from choosing a topic, to completing the experiment, to completing their project. To complete their projects students need to fill out each of the templates provided and complete their project. I intended these templates to be used for a poster like project, but just as easily they could be glued into a book like formate, or students could copy the same formate to create a power point, or an audio visual report. Photographs, drawings, or other forms of evidence can be attached to the poster as well. Students can work independently or in groups.
