A PowerPoint review of simple sentences: basic, compound subjects, compound predicates. I used this in a variety of ways. We have played a a whole class variation of scoot. Each desk that has a child sitting it at has a paper...the kids move the paper stays. Then the sentence is projected on the screen and each student writes his/her answer on the paper. The answer is then revealed and every student who wrote a correct answer gets to move and those with incorrect answers stay in their seats. Those who moved check the paper to make sure the previous occupant wrote the correct answer. The goal is to get back to your seat. I also have had them hold up cards that have "simple sentence," "simple sentence with a compound subject" and "simple sentence with a compound predicate" on it.
