This resource is intended to help young listeners develop basic comprehension skills. The focus is on literal comprehension of simple stories, but each passage includes a critical thinking question. It allows the teacher to give a score for literal comprehension and total comprehension for each passage. 12 stories included at this level. It also includes a progress chart.
Since the teacher re-reads the story after prompting the student to listen for specific information (that which was answered incorrectly the first time), this resource also helps to build listening skills.
This product is perfect for students with comprehension goals on their Individualized Education Programs.
Directions: Read the story one time and then ask the questions. Record correct answers with a check mark. Record incorrect answers by writing the response on the lines. Score the responses for first reading.
Then, re-read the passage, prompting the listener to listen for the answer to the questions missed. Record a check with a number 2 to indicate the response was given on second reading. You may choose to give a score for the second reading as well.
