With this purchase, you have an introductory PowerPoint deck plus seven exercises to help students practice their recognition of simple sentences, compound sentences, comma splices, and run-ons. Each exercise has approximately twenty items, and I have included a key for each. These exercises do not include complex or compound-complex sentences. They do, however, include sentences with appositives and participial phrases. A student will need to understand that these two phrases act as adjectives modifying a noun or pronoun in order to fully understand these sentences. Also, they must know the complementary comma rules of these phrases in order to be successful with these exercises. I have attempted to avoid the use of infinitives except for in the participial phrases. Finally, at the end of the document, there is a follow-up assessment complete with key.
