This mini-unit will make simple and compound sentences easy for students to understand. There is a simple (black ink only) anchor chart that defines and gives an example of a simple sentence and a compound sentence. Just copy and give to the kiddos for their reading notebook and future reference.
There is a 34 page slide show that targets identifying simple and compound sentences. The second part of the slide show asks students to take two simple sentences and combine them with a conjunction to make a compound sentence. The conjunctions in this mini-unit are and, but, and or.
There are 4 worksheets for practice, homework, or assessment. I have also included an extension activity. Answer keys for the worksheets are included.
