This PowerPoint file contains a grammar lesson on how to improve sentence structure in all forms of writing. The slides start by explaining what a simple sentence is and moves on to how these can be amended to create compound and complex sentences, including the use of subordination. Grammatical words such as clause and subordinate clause are used to re-enforce correct terminology.
Then, the class have a chance to practice creating their own complex sentences using interesting and odd pictures as a stimulus. Finally, they can have a go at creating their own sentences as an activity.
My class found this interesting because they enjoyed the funny pictures and making up a wacky sentence. Little did they know they were learning!!!
