This is a partner activity that allows students to work on the skill of simplifying algebraic fractions. This activity is engaging for students and allows them to self check their work with their partner!
Have students work in pairs of 2. If you have an odd number of students, have one group of 3 and have 2 students work on one side of the board while the 3rd student works on the other side of the board. This activity works best if students are facing each other with the paper positioned landscape style in the middle of their desks (like the desks and paper in the picture!)
Directions to give to students:
Determine who is Person A and who is Person B. Person A does the side of the board labeled A. Person B does the side of the board labeled B. Place your paper landscape style between you and your partner so that you have your problems facing you. Complete problems that are across from each other (Example: both people work on #1 at the same time). When you are both done with the problem, check your answers. If done correctly, your answers will match!
