The following activity is a great review of simplifying expressions. Students will use their knowledge on combining like terms with adding + subtracting, simplifying with multiplication + division, as well as, using the distributive property.

Students will begin by simplifying the expression of their choice. Once complete, they will look for their answer on the answer bank. If they can’t find their answer, they know they have made a mistake and need to try again. Once they have located their answer, they will need to write down the color next to the original problem. For example, the answer to problem #1 is ‘33x-14’ which is red. Students will write down ‘red’ next to problem #1. They will then color the 1’s on the design page red. Most numbers only have one section, but there are a few that have two. A completed design page is provided!
