This activity consists of 32 task cards - 8 groups of 4 equivalent expressions. Two recording sheets give you two ways to use the cards:
1. Students get a card with an expression, then search for others with equivalent expressions matching their own. The goal is to form a group of four. Then students work as a group to discuss and write about who had the most difficult card to simplify and explain why.
2. Students get a recording sheet with 8 rows of four spaces. Students start with a card, writing the expression down and simplifying if possible. Then they move to the next desk, and see if they'll write the new expression in the same row, or start a new row.
More detailed directions and helpful hints are included. Task cards can be printed in color or black and white.
