This activity was created as an active, engaging way for my students to practice simplifying expressions including the distributive property. I posted all 8 cards throughout the hallway and gave each student the recording page (attached). Students could start at any card they wanted and worked in pairs. Once they simplified the expression on their first card, they had to find another card with the corresponding answer at the top. This is how they know what order to go in. If students can't find their answer, they know they need to revisit the problem to see where their mistake was.
This is an easy way for students to check that their answers are correct, and they loved having to hunt for the correct card.
This activity can also be used as a center, group work, or independent work.
