There are several different ways you can use this activity in your classroom. The purpose of this activity is to keep students engaged and have a bit of fun as a class. The sentences students create will be silly.
Before students begin working, have them fold the dotted line, and fill in the side answer box with the appropriate types of words. Once students have completed this, they should select one (unless stated otherwise) problem from each row. Their answers to the problem will be in the answer box under the corresponding row. They should fill in the work next to that answer in the bottom portion of the worksheet. Once they have selected one work per section, they will complete their short story. At this point, I have students share their final story, and we all have a good laugh. After that, I have students go back and complete the rest of the problems on the worksheet for extra practice. This could be a homework assignment, partner/group assignment or independent practice.
When applicable, the problems scaffold from easiest to hardest, which will allow you to differentiate for your students. An answer key is included.
