For each fraction bar, students write a fraction based on the shaded squares out of the total number of squares. Then they write each fraction in simplest form.
As a teacher - Cut out the fraction bar strips and tape one to each student’s desk in numerical order. Set a timer and students fill in the fraction and the simplified fraction on their paper. When the timer goes off, they “scoot” to the next seat and do the next problem until they have “scooted” to complete all 12 problems.
*Two versions of the same 12 simplifying fractions problems, Answer Key included.
