Are your students struggling to determine when a fraction is simplified? I created this fun, interactive lesson that will provide them with a visual of when a fraction can be simplified.
WWGD? - What Would Groundhog Do?
Cute, little groundhogs (with fractions) are trying to determine which hole they can go into, the holes are labeled:
1. Both numerator and denominator are even.
2. The numerator and denominator share a common factor.
3. The fraction cannot be simplified.
The students then glue the groundhogs inside of the correct hole and simplify the fractions.
My students LOVED this lesson and now, whenever we use fractions I hear them say WWGD?
The students can review and/or practice their simplifying skills with another interactive, simplifying activity here:
