Simplifying Fractions can be fun! Students earn points for putting fractions into simplest form with this printable game. Once you have printed the cards on cardstock, cut apart, stack, bind with a rubber band, and distribute with a set of directions and answer key (these may also be printed back-to-back). Students can "play" with a partner or in small groups. It's a great way to practice, review, or prepare for tests.
Included: 70 fractions cards, directions, & answer key
Common Core note: Although simplifying fractions is not included in the CCSS per se as it was deemed that there is no mathematical reason why fractions must be written in simplest form, it was noted that it may be convenient to do so in some cases. The standards included here relate to creating equivalent fractions (3NF3b requires students to recognize and generate simple equivalent fractions and 4NFA2 requires students to compare fractions to a benchmark fraction), and this resource allows students to practice this skill.
