I have created a simple worksheet with rules on how to tell if a fraction is simplified, and tricks to help your students better understand simplifying.
Ex. If a fraction has a 1 as the numerator, it is already simplified to lowest terms
Ex. If a both the numerator and denominator are even, divide by 2 *You may need to divide more than once
Students will fill in the blanks to help better understand these rules and they are able to cut on the dotted line to paste them in their notebooks. They will then use the 16 examples given to practice simplifying fractions.
**This is to be used as an introductory to simplifying fractions, and includes an answer sheet for the fill in the blank section.
