“Simplifying is Fun!” is a board game that helps students practice and reinforce the concept of simplifying fractions. This game can be used during Math Centers, for early finishers, or any other time of the day!
INCLUDED IN THIS PACK:
-Teacher Instructions (for how to paste and laminate onto file folder)
-Ideas for game pieces
-30 game cards for simplify fractions
-Open the board game and place it in front of you and your partner.
-Shuffle the cards and lay them face down.
-Place both game board pieces on the square labeled “Start”.
-Figure out which partner is older. That will be the first player.
-That person will draw the game card on the top of the stack and simplify the fraction on their card. (You may use scratch paper to help you if your teacher allows.)
-When the first player has an answer to the question on their card, their partner will check the answer using the answer key. If the answer is correct, the first player will move their game piece one space. It then becomes the other player’s turn. If an incorrect answer is given you do not move your game piece and it becomes the other player’s turn.
-Create a ‘discard’ pile for cards that have been used. If all of the cards are used before the game is over shuffle them and start again!
-The first person to get their game piece to the “Finish” square wins!
