This engaging simulation requires students to work in groups of 3-4 to gain a better understanding of the counterculture of the 1960s and why they often clashed with their parents. Before this activity, it is best if the students have background knowledge of the conformity culture of the 1950s, the Vietnam War, and the emerging counterculture of many baby boomers in the '60s.
The first page of this product includes instructions for the teacher and the second includes the family roles (mother, father, son, daughter). The simulation that the students are to create is a family meeting with topics listed on the first page.
This activity can be done in 10-20 minutes.
