This is a 'placemat' style activity for use with pupils who have just finished the simultaneous equations topic, or need more practice at worked questions.
The 'placemat' works by giving the pupils each an area to work on a large whiteboard or piece of A3 paper. Pupils work individually during the first timer, then have time as a group to collaborate their ideas into the 'perfect solution' in the center of the 'placemat'.
There are 5 questions in a lesson designed to last around an hour.
My pupils loved bringing their ideas together and picking the best methods and layout from all group members!
