Here is a 10-product BUNDLE of my Sine and Cosine Law collaborative math mosaics, plus a fun Smart Notebook activity helping students choose to correct trig tool for a given triangle problem.
These mosaics are a lot of fun and encourage even reluctant students to complete their work!
Students' sheets combine to create the hero mosaics. The collaborative motivation is huge! The answers are given in a randomized list at the bottom of each sheet, allowing students to monitor their own work. Complete answer keys are provided for you, as well as Teaching Tips pages for smooth implementation!
Students solve the trig problems, then use the answers to colour their worksheets based on the colour key.
There are some great seasonal mosaics included!
While most of the mosaics included in this bundle are available for purchase individually, some are only sold as part of other smaller bundles. Click on the product hyperlinks below to see the individual product pages with previews and more details. Mosaics come in both .docx and .pdf format. All of them use the 24 colours from the basic Crayola coloured pencils box. Encourage students to help each other, since everyone's worksheet has different questions, and to colour darkly
MOSAICS (plus one Smartboard Activity!) INCLUDED:
1) Choosing the Correct Trig Tool - "Whose Law is it Anyway?" (Smart Notebook Activity)
2) Easter Bunny Mosaic** (24 Sheet)
3) Link from Zelda Mosaic** (12 and 24 Sheet Versions)
4) The Grinch Mosaic (15 and 30 Sheet Versions)
5) "A Cute" Triangle Mosaic (18 and 30 Sheet Versions)
6) One Up Mushroom Mosaic, Sine Law Only - from diagrams (4, 16, annd 32 Sheet Verions)
7) Batman vs Superman Mosaics (12 Sheets Each)
Minion Captain America (15 Sheets) ~~Only available in this bundle!~~
9) Duck in Pond Mosaic (15 Sheet)
10) Pumpkin Pi Mosaic** (25 Sheet)
The resource is not available individually, but is sold as part of a separate smaller bundle. Only the oblique trigonometry version is included in this bundle.
1. Calculate the answers.
2. Colour the squares.
3. Cut out your section.
4. Combine with the class!
Leave the pictures a secret, or let them know in advance for motivation… it’s your call.
Encourage students to check their answers by finding them in the randomized list on their worksheet before they colour each square. This will increase the accuracy of the final picture!
Feedback, suggestions, and frontline stories are always welcomed!
COMMON CORE MATH STANDARDS:
Understand and apply the Law of Sines and the Law of Cosines to find unknown measurements in right and non-right triangles (e.g., surveying problems, resultant forces).
ONTARIO CURRICULUM (CANADA)
◾ MPM2D, Trigonometry Strand,
Overall Expectation T3:
Solve problems involving acute triangles, using the sine law and the cosine law.
T3.3 Determine the measures of sides and angles in acute triangles, using the sine law and the cosine law
◾ MCF3M, Trigonometric Functions Strand
Overall Expectation TF1:
Solve problems involving trigonometry in acute triangles using the sine law and the cosine law, including problems arising from real-world applications
TF1.4: Describe conditions that guide when it is appropriate to use the sine law or the cosine law, and use these laws to calculate sides and angles in acute triangles
TF1.5: Solve problems that require the use of the sine law or the cosine law in acute triangles
