This packet includes activities to reinforce the use of singular possessive nouns.
Students will use a Pet Show picture to prompt the use of singular possessive nouns.
Lower level students can write sentences using possessives about the picture.
Higher students can write a creative writing paragraph based on the prompt the following prompt: Oh no! One of the animals got loose at the Pet Show! Write a silly story about the Pet Show using possessive nouns. Be creative! Include all the animals and owners from the picture.
Finally, there is an editing page where students must edit the text looking for errors in capitalization, punctuation, and possessives!
I have used this for a 3 day center activity for second graders starting first with the sentence writing, then editing, then finally the creative writing. Students loved the picture and created some pretty awesome stories about the Pet Show while using the target skills of singular possessives.
I even included a bonus Pet Show picture where students can name the people (many of my second graders wanted to name the kids).
