This purchase includes a lab worksheet and a SMART notebook presentation to accompany the lesson. In this lab students will compare the density of salt water to the density of fresh water. They will learn that salt water is more dense than fresh water so their piece of carrot will float in salt water but won't float in fresh water. Skills they need for this lab: displacement, measuring mass and volume, calculating density. Materials required: Triple beam balance, water, measuring spoons, beaker, carrot, and salt.
If you just want a simple sink or float lab without having students calculate the density, check out my Middle School Version
