Young children are naturally wonderful at asking questions about the world around them, and this science activity and experiment along with many others give young minds the skills they need to seek answers and view the world scientifically.
This experiment is great during small group time, during learning centers, or at circle time.
Included in this download: “Prediction” and “Outcome” posters you can discuss with your class before the experiment. A sheet titled, “Did it Sink or Float” to write predictions and outcomes.
Not included: You will have to gather classroom objects(that both sink and float) and a tub or container with water. Have each student pick two objects and write a prediction for each. Then, test both objects and record what happens. Have students compare their predictions to the final outcomes.
Have a class discussion about the predictions and outcomes.
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did with my class.
