As a teacher you know that forming relationships with your students is extremely important. Relationship building is the framework for a successfully run classroom as well as important to a students social/emotional growth.
Sip and Chat is a time during your day where you grab your tea/coffee/water and sit down with your students either in a designated spot in your room or wherever they are working in the room at the time and simply chat! All in a laid back manner where the student feels safe and comfortable having a conversation with you.
Sip & Chat can be done in any amount of time. If you have 5-10 minutes in the morning or 30 minutes in the afternoon either one would work. It does not have to take a large chunk of time and it should be done as a pull out. Keep it as organic as possible. The point is so that your students form a lasting relationship with you not only as their teacher but as a person!
