Organization seems to be difficult for most young writers. They don't understand that learning to write is a process. The more you practice it, the better the organization. Unfortunately, organization practice can be quite boring.
I came up with this Six-Traits Organization lesson using the mentor text, There's a Nightmare in my Closet. It's a quick, simple read, but my students have always enjoyed it, and it leads into a fun, thought provoking writing assignment at the end.
The Power Point includes everything you'll need to teach the lesson. It usually takes us 2-3 days. You will find graphic organizers and a rubric as well as a terrific Pixar video about BEGINNINGS. It's always been a hit with my students...not to mention VERY helpful!
Please check out my other 6-Traits writing lessons and resources at my TPT store, Arrrsome in Fifth. Thank you!
