Product Description

Can your 6th grade math class use their knowledge of percents to stop a mathematical villain from hacking into the nation's largest bank? In this breakout style math activity, students use percents, rates, and ratios to stop the virus before it's too late!

In order to solve the five puzzles in this percent challenge, students must be able to:

• Convert percents to fractions (and fractions to percents)
• Convert percents to decimals (and decimals to percents)
• Find a total when given a part and a percent CC.6.RP.A.3.c
• Find a fraction of a number (120% of 50)
• Solve problems using fractions as a rate (45%= 45/100)
• Solve basic substitution ciphers

A Google Form (no e-mail required) automates this digital escape room. As a correct answer is entered, students progress to the next puzzle. When students complete all of the puzzles, they will be given a new security clearance level that they write on their badge that acts as an exit ticket to show they have completed the task. This activity is low prep and encourages student engagement and cooperation! My students choose this type of game over worksheets 100% of the time! Please be sure your students have a way to access a Google Form before purchasing.

Breakout activities are great for cooperative learning. Use this percent activity for your sixth graders for review or use as an enrichment activity for fifth graders.
