Often kids overreact to seemingly little things. Emotional regulation skills often need to be purposefully taught to many kids. This simple strategy just puts everything in to perspective for a kid. I really emphasize the size of the reactions and practice, practice, practice. This includes modeling and role-play and in the classroom - pausing and rewinding to "try again". This social story is very concrete and uses images and graphics to the teach the lesson. My kids love this and it has always worked great for my kids with social cognitive deficits or kids on the autism spectrum. Includes classroom reminder poster, 2 independent worksheets with answer key and some super fun group activities.
