Skate Eights is a 2-player game that allows students to practice multiplying by the number 8. Players roll two dice and decide whether to add or subtract the two numbers before multiplying the sum or difference by the number 8. Players then search for the product on their side of the game board and cover it with a counter. The game continues until one player has covered all of the roller skates containing the multiples of 8. This activity meets or exceeds the Common Core Standards of Mathematics and makes for a great class game or a standards-based learning center to practice the basic facts of multiplication.
