This is a 7-page Word document, double spaced in a size 14 font. Easy reading. Chock full of full-color pictures and interesting facts about the human skeletal system. This assignment involves reading a few paragraphs, then answering questions about the reading. All the answers are found within this document - there is no prior knowledge needed and the students don't have to search the document for the answers. This type of assignment can be used as an introduction or a review - it is that comprehensive. There are some higher-order questions but the answers are still found within the reading.
This assignment is used on the computer with a drop box such as Blackboard or School Space. It can be quickly and easily converted into a printable paper copy by simply removing the asterisks and adding lines for the students to write their answers instead of typing them. I use this format often so that we can save paper by using electronic copies of assignments.
The student answers the questions by placing the cursor between the red asterisks and begins typing the answer - that way they can easily see that they've answered the question and I can easily grade the assignment by reading what they've typed in red. The student's completed assignment will look much like the teacher's answer KEY. I love technology!
If you'd prefer a paper copy, simply remove the red asterisks and add lines for students to place their answers. Word documents are so easily manipulated. However, even if a student is absent, I just give them a copy of this assignment - asterisks included - because there's stil room to write answers. Make it yours!
