In each of my visual arts classes I have my students make their own sketchbook
. They learn a new book binding technique, such as folder style, coptic, or accordion, in each class. This introduces them to a range of sketchbook styles and encourages them to take ownership of their sketchbooks by decorating and personalizing them.
The secret Belgian bookbinding technique is the focus for this lesson. Students learn the background of this bookbinding technique, tips on designing their sketchbook, and the basics of bookbinding through the PowerPoint. In addition to the PowerPoint, the Belgian bookbinding technique is demonstrated through a video and a handout for the students to reference.
All in all this project pack includes
➢Belgain bookbinding PowerPoint
➢Lesson plan, including big idea, goals, objectives, supply list, and step by step instructions.
➢Belgian bookbinding how to handout
➢Belgian bookbinding how to video
