Outcome: I can use my sketchbook to organize visual information, explore new concepts and themes, practice new skills, and thoroughly plan my projects.
I created this general rubric to use throughout the year with ELL high school students -all level 1 art students. I assess sketchbooks about every 6 weeks and tape the half page with their score on their next blank page and add sticky notes with additional feedback using specific rubric language.
Students use sketchbooks daily for Do Now questions or drawing tasks. Every Friday I give homework: art/writing prompts and they have 1 week to complete.
