Product Description
This pack was created to help second grade teachers find easy materials for skip counting. The following materials are included:

-worksheets
-interactive white board activity

Interactive Notebook Pages-
The pages included in this packet focus on finding patterns in a list of numbers. Students will skip count by 2, 5, 10, and 100 to fill in the missing numbers in the pattern.
Since the patterns are ascending and descending, this is more of an intermediate activity. Some of the patterns use benchmark numbers, but most do not. Two sets of interactive notebook pages are included- skip counting within 100 and skip counting within 1,000.
The pages look identical which lends to discreet differentiation in the classroom.

Worksheets-
The pages included in this packet focus on finding patterns in several different formats. The “Bubbly for Skip Counting” worksheet asks students continue skip counting patterns by 2, 5, or 10. Two versions are included, within 100 and within 1000.
The “Find the Gumball” worksheet has students find the missing number on the number line by skip counting by 2, 5, or 10. Two versions are included, one version has ascending patterns and the other version has descending patterns.
The last page, “Popping Word Problems” has a mixed set of problems, including word problems, number lines, and number patterns. This worksheet would be best for the end of the unit when students have been exposed to all kinds of skip counting patterns.

Board Game-
This game may appear confusing, but is actually pretty simple!
Students will need a die, a paperclip for a spinner, the board game, and the cards. The teacher can choose to give students all the cards which include numbers within 100 and within 1000, or just one page to differentiate.
To prepare the game, print, laminate, and cut out the directions/ cover sheet, game board, and cards. Store all materials in a galloon size baggie.
To play the game, students will roll the die. This is the number of spaces the student will move on the game board AND times the students will continue the skip counting pattern. Then, the student will spin the spinner with the paperclip. This is the number the student will skip count by. Finally, the student will draw a card. The number drawn is the first number in the skip counting pattern. The student will start at this number. The student will skip count by the number shown on the spinner for each space moved.

Assessment-
One page assessment with 6 questions is included. The questions assess these concepts:
• Skip counting with pairs
• Descending number pattern (counting by 5’s) within 100
• Finding the missing number on a number line (skip counting by 10) within 1,000
• Ascending number pattern skip counting by 2 within 1,000
• Skip counting by 100 word problem
• Ascending number pattern skip counting by 100 within 1,000

Skip Counting Centers-
Five skip counting centers are included. To prepare the games, print, laminate and cut out the cards. To save ink, the student directions and cover sheets are on one page. Print on the direction/ cover sheets (both are on the same page). Fold in half on the dotted lines and glue the page together. Finally, laminate the page for durability. Centers can be stored in gallon size baggies.
Please note that NO recording sheets are included. Students will write directly on cards using a dry erase marker. Students can record their work in math journals, if needed.
The centers are organized from the least difficult, to the most difficult. The centers include:
• Popping with Skip Counting- Students continue the pattern from a given number. Students skip count by 2, 5, or 10. To help support the students in finding the next number in the pattern, they can count the “burst bubbles” as a visual cue. There are four pages (8 cards total) of each skip counting pattern.
• Gumball Skip Counting- Students continue the pattern from a given number. Students skip count by 2, 5, 10, or 100. There are no visual cues to support students. There are two pages (6 cards total) of each skip counting pattern.
• Skip Counting Cards- Students sort the cards to find the cards with the same picture. Then, students order the cards to find the pattern. Some numbers are missing on the cards. Students will write the missing number in the pattern on each blank card. Students skip count by 2, 5, or 10. There are no visual cues to support students. There are four sets of pattern cards for students to sort and complete.
• Descending Skip Counting- Students continue the descending pattern from a given number within 100. Students skip count by 2, 5, 10, or 100. There are no visual cues to support students. There are 3 pages (6 cards total) of each skip counting pattern. A hundreds chart with counters is included to support students if needed.

Interactive White Board Activity-
The interactive whiteboard activity included in this pack is very simple. A locked PowerPoint presentation with locked images (per artist’s terms of use) is included. Students will skip count from the number in the splat (for example, 75) by the pattern written in the bubble (for example, 2). Students will continue the pattern by writing the next three numbers in the pattern in the star shaped bubble gum splats. For extra support, students can count the gumballs in the machine to help find the next number in the pattern.
There are two versions of the activity: patterns within 100 and patterns within 1,000. Students will skip count by 2, 5, and 10.
All the slides are organized so the skip counting patterns are together (for example all the 2’s are together). However, the teacher can simply click and drag the slides to reorder them in the slide sorter view to create a mixed practice.
