In order for students to become proficient in many math skills in later grades, they must have a strong understanding of number concepts. Students will utilize these practice pages to strengthen their number concept understanding.
Beginning at different stating points, they practice counting by 5s, 10s, and 100s. These skip counting practices are completed separately, and then mixed together, challenging students to determine what they are counting by first, and then on to complete the counting pattern.
Students can then engage in a fun, hands-on counting game, where they will compete against each other, practicing their counting by 10s skills. During this game, students begin at different starting points, counting forward and backward.
If you have students that need a challenge, you can differentiate this activity by altering the Grow and Shrink by 10s counting game. Having students count by 5s, which will be a far more difficult task with different starting points.
