One of the most fantastic things about Montessori math is the abundance of concrete materials that can be utilized to teach and reinforce a variety of concepts. The Bead Stair is a concrete Montessori Material used in a number of Math activities ranging from 1-10 work to advanced multiplication. This task is intended reinforce the introduction of the skip counting or multiplication concept through 100. It is not intended to reinforce the squaring or cubing concepts, as they are more advanced. It can be utilized along with the Hundred Board and/or the actual Bead Bars. It can also be used in its paper form for the child moving towards memorization and abstraction.
The product includes a total of six pages starting with three colored templates with varying numerals given and three black and white templates with varying numerals given. The third page is colored, includes all numerals and can be used as a control of error or answer key. The student can write in the missing numerals, color the black and white bead bars with the appropriate colors or do both writing and coloring (I find the coloring of each bar as they are counting helpful, not only in strengthening fine motor skills, but in keeping track of where they are in their counting.)
