A set of 6 worksheets and a quiz on skip counting / counting by whole numbers, designed for second grade level.
This is designed to build students' mental math skills in preparation for multiplication and mental addition ease. The first couple of pages may be used with students who struggle with mental math, and they may need to do only a problem or two per day as they build their mental math skills. For students who grasp mental math quickly, they may skip the first page and do a page per day. Strategies using 10 are explained on the worksheets; strategies involving adding with the ones' place mentally are not, as very few students could read a strategy like that and understand it from their reading. The worksheets give them a place to practice once you have taught it to them.
Can be used in tutoring or as a resource with specific students who need more focused practice on the concept. May be used to quickly review concept or help student re-learn it. I recommend using different pages on different days; a student would be overwhelmed with trying to do all of it at once!
I created this to use with my tutoring students; it really helps their mental math ability as they start noticing patterns, using ten to add 9, etc.
While this can be used with actual second graders, it was designed for students several years older who are working below grade level. If using with students at grade level, they may need assistance with the directions.
