Skip Step Repeat is an assessment game/activity for the music classroom. Students each receive three cards- one for skip, one for step, and one for repeat. A diagram is shown on each card along with the word. Different options for game play are included, but in each version of play, the goal is for students to aurally identify (by ear) whether the interval being played is a skip, a step, or a repeated note. Printing the included sheets on three different colors of cardstock will assist in quickly assessing students' ability to aurally identify skips, steps, and repeats.
The file includes a single page of instructions, then two pages (intended to be printed double-sided) for each interval type. The first page shows a diagram using a barred instrument and an arrow to show what a skip, a step, and a repeated note look like with the corresponding word in small type underneath. The second page simply has the word (skip, step, or repeat) written in larger letters. There are 12 cards per page, which will be cut down after printing. You may print as many copies as needed to provide enough cards for your class. I suggest laminating for longevity!
