Students will use Skittles candy to model division with or without remainders (depending on the number of Skittles and students sharing). I give each student one bag of skittles to divide as if they were going to share, then they keep the contents in the end. Skittles can be placed in a plastic bag after activity for enjoying later if teacher desires. Typically, I do this in small groups that rotate throughout the week. Over the course of the week, all students will participate. This also controls the divisor and keeps it under 6 (or depends on the number of students in each group). This is a great activity for students being introduced to division, remainders or as review. Plus, there is CANDY!
