This break-the-ice activity is great for the first week of school or anytime you want to bring your class together. You learn more about your students while they learn more about each other.
The activity is simple. Open a few bags of Skittles and give a little bit to each student. They aren't allowed to eat them until the activity starts. Your students take turns picking a Skittle and answering the question that accompanies that Skittle color. You go around the class until everyone's Skittles are used up. Your students will like the candy break and getting to know each other better. It will also help you understand your students better as individuals. I also use it as a way to help me remember students' names during the first week of school.
This activity is good for almost all grade levels (use your best judgement). It's also good for adult education students, college students, and your co-workers during staff meetings.
