Product Description
Slave Trade: Slave Castles of Ghana Webquest

Students will learn about the slave trade and the castles/forts built by Europeans along the coast of Ghana during the 1400s through 1700s. The webquest uses a very student friendly website that clearly explains how the castles were used during the slave trade. Please check out the website by clicking on the link below:

Click here to view the website.

The following topics are covered in this webquest:
Slave Trade
Cruelty of the Slave Trade
European Nations Involved in the Slave Trade
Cape Coast Castle
Elmina Castle
How the Castles Are Used in Modern Times

The webquest contains 24 questions and is a great way to introduce or to have your students go into more depth on the history of the African Slave Trade or the Triangle Trade. An answer sheet is included for the teacher. A QR code is included along with the traditional website link. The webquest will take most students at least 15 to 30 minutes to complete depending on age. Feel free to modify this activity if needed to fit the needs of your students. The website also includes two great videos, one of former President Obama visiting Cape Coast Castle. I suggest playing these videos for your whole class or if they have headphones let students watch the videos individually.
