PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This lesson is part of a larger unit that documents the life of a slave from captivity to freedom (see link below).

How did slaves get their freedom prior to the Civil War? This lesson will focus on the life of Frederick Douglass and the three most common methods slaves obtained their freedom.

Your students will be asked level 2 and 3 Depth of Knowledge Questions (DOK). This lesson aligns with Common Core Standards for both ELA and Social Studies, questions are aligned with the Common Core released questions. Students will also practice Speaking and Listening Skills aligned with ELA Common Core Standards.
