Are you teaching about the U.S. Constitution? Do you want your students to understand how founding fathers discussed the issue of slavery in writing the Constitution? Well this is the lesson for you. This lesson is a great way to teach about deeper issues underlying the formation of the United States and the ideas/views regarding slavery at the time. This lesson talks about the banning of the slave trade, the fugitive slave law, and the infamous three-fifths compromise. Students may copy notes that are underlined. Students also write a John Collins Type 3 paragraph in response to a critical thinking question about the subject learned. Great for high school students!
