A Play along to go with the Leopold Mozart Musical Sleigh Ride
A Listening Map to accompany the Leroy Anderson Sleigh Ride
A set of cards describing the two pieces to use as a spring board for discussion of how the pieces are the same and how they are different. (“Sleigh Ride Comparison”)
A Venn diagram to facilitate student thoughts while comparing/contrasting the two pieces.
I would expect this process to take a few weeks of lessons to complete. By all means include movement as you teach these pieces. I highly recommend the Leroy Anderson Movement activity from Artie Almeida’s book, “Parachutes and Ribbons and Scarves, Oh My!” If you don’t already have it, BUY IT! It is a great resource.
These files are all in pdf format. If you need something other than this for your presentation purposes, please don’t hesitate to ask me. I don’t mind sharing other formats (ie ppt), if you don’t mind keeping your files to yourself! Of course the music is not included as that would be an infringement of copyright but I'm sure you have those pieces in your listening library somewhere!
