WRITER'S NOTEBOOK SLIDE AND STOP LESSON
Become the Character: Use precise language to capture a moment in time with this "Slide and Stop" snapshot lesson.
How to use this lesson:
Ask students to drop their fingers onto column #1 while you say, "Slide...Slide...Slide...STOP!" Students run their fingers up and down the column. I warn them (just to add a little drama) not to look at the column until I say, "STOP!"
Repeat this with column #2 and column #3.
Tell students that they must become their characters and decide what they would be doing during their selected time slots.
Finally, students must add the color they picked into a five-minute free write which will include their name and a specific time along with that color.
