In this lesson, students will practice making connections between the 3 key elements of linear equations: points, graphs, and equations. After graphing points and gathering some visual information about the linear graph, students will calculate the slope on the right with the Slope Formula: m = y-y/x-x.
This lesson is set up as a scaffold to help students make the connection between the slope they've created visually, and the slope the formula calculates.
This lesson lends itself well to collaboration with a partner or a small group, as students can compare data and do some error analysis with their peers.
